So, there are things that I absolutely adore about living in an apartment. My most favorite part about the apartment is the mouse that we seem to have gotten.
I didn't get to sleep at all last night. When I got home from work last night Vinnie tells me that he and Zach were coming out from the nursery, and saw this mouse run across the living room. GREAT!! He said it wasn't a big one, and he has a trap set. I didn't really give it another thought until we went to bed. Midnight rolls around, and neither one of us is able to sleep because of the what-if's. So, we played UNO until about 3 am. About half an hour later, we heard the trap snap. GREAT! Now, I'm thinking Vinnie should go take care of it because I didn't wan't to have to see it. Another half an hour later Vinnie finally got up and checked the trap... No mouse. CRAP!! I still haven't slept.
I don't know I guess it was around 5 am, I was starting to drift to sleep, and Vinnie quickly, I mean like the speed of lightning, jumps out of bed and shouts "GET OUT OF BED", panicked, I jump out of bed, and he continues to tell me that he felt something run across his arm. I giggle a little, and ask him if he's sure it wasn't my hair. With the insomnia I had been tossing and turning. I went into the bathroom, did my business, I had panicked, and my bladder hadn't recovered. I was washing my hands, and started to laugh a little more, now making fun of my hubby because he was imagining things.
All of a sudden Vinnie yells there he is, the mouse had been in our room, on our bed, and on us! Now, the panic is back. I walk into the bedroom, and happen to see this little (like the size of a baby hamster) mouse scurry across the floor, probably as paniced as I. I couldn't get out of the room fast enough, I ran back into the bathroom, and jumped into the tum, more on the wall of the tub.
Apparently the mouse had the same idea...
I'm standing on the tub, now shaking so bad I can't hardly stand it. When the mouse runs into the bathroom with me and hits the tub. At this point I'm freaking out thinking that the mouse might be able to crawl into my new safe haven. Thank goodness I was wrong, but he did happen to hide behind the trash can. I shout to Vinnie to get something to trap the mouse. Poor Vinnie, he was a bit frightened as well, and couldn't process what he should grab, so, he asks "what do you want me to grab?" I shrek a cup or bowl. In the meantime my brain still isn't working, and I don't shut the door to the bathroom to trap him... I take that back, the thought had crossed my mind, then I thought "Are you crazy, you don't want to trap yourself in the same room as this mouse." I would like to take this time again to remind you that the mouse was no bigger that a hampster.
About the time Vinnie got a cup, the mouse had shot out of the bathroom, and under the hamper. I told Vinnie, and I don't know where the mouse had gone, but apparently it wasn't where Vinnie had expected him to be. I hear a scream, and am forced to relinquish my safe haven to make sure Vinnie hasn't had a heart attack. I find that the mouse had run across his feet, and now we can't find it.
So, we sit and wait on the couch, and no mouse, so I assume that he has gone to his home for the day, and we will have to try and get him later. Part of this statement is true.
Vinnie no sooner left for work, and I was doing some work on the computer, and out pops this dang mouse. Needless to say, I'm not going to get any sleep today, and the bed in going to get into it's frame, and off the ground before bed time tonight.
I'm sorry to say, but this mouse has to go. I'm half tempted to let the stray cat into the apartment to do some mousing for me. Too bad Vinnie's allergic.
Katie,
ReplyDeleteAbsolutely hilarious!!! Hey use Peanut butter on your trap, the mouse will be attracted to it and they have to get onto the trap to get the pb. I'll have to start a blog and write about my mouse story sometime!!
love ya girl,
